One of the things your upline has probably told you is to never join another network marketing company… and to focus on the one you are building.
Now, while there are SOME truth to this way of thinking, the motivation behind your upline telling you this is of course predominantly to his benefit. He/She wants you to focus solely on the network marketing company that HE can benefit from.
So of course he/she won’t like it if you distract yourself with another MLM business opportunity…
Two Sides to It
If you are brand new to network marketing, then I’d have to agree with your upline (despite his ulterior motive to telling you to NEVER join another company and to focus on the one which also happen to make him money).
The reason is because you would be way too distracted and unfocused.
You’d have no conviction of either and when you talk to any prospects… that would show through – and if YOU aren’t convicted, how can you expect your prospect to believe anything you say?
And you’d just end up confusing yourself and frankly, step on your own toes trying to promote both.
“What? You don’t like energy drinks? Okay, why don’t you join my magical detergent MLM instead then?” People would just look at you weird.
Now, if you ARE experienced with network marketing and have a way to distinguish the different MLM companies you are involved in, and just as importantly, identify and distinguish which prospect would be ideal for which MLM company, then you are okay.
This is especially true if you know how to leverage the power of internet marketing and setup your “marketing funnel” properly.
You’d be able to identify who are more fitted for one MLM versus the other. And you’d be able to identify how one form of marketing may work better for one MLM, and use a different marketing strategy for the other (i.e. maybe one is more suited for offline marketing while another is better suited for online).
Bottom Line
It’s okay to be in multiple MLMs (to create multiple streams of income) IF and only if you are able to handle marketing/promoting multiple opportunities without tripping all over yourself in the process.
I’d also recommend different MLMs which attract different types of people (or markets if you will). For example, I am a member of Carbon Copy Pro, which is a direct sales opportunity promoting high ticket item (as in, it costs a fair amount to purchase their financial products). It’s designed for the wealthy; for folks who have money to invest.
Compare and contrast this with the main MLM I am focusing on, Numis Network. The cost to join is much lower than that of Carbon Copy Pro and the product is vastly different (here you collect gold and silver coins that appreciate in value while Carbon Copy Pro is financial education for the wealthy).
They actually work hand in hand in my marketing funnel because they attract different types of mindset.
So if you want to make MORE money in MLM, it is absolutely okay to be involved in more than one, only if you are ready for them
